This Season's Class Descriptions

Special Classes

Yoga with Chanting: Sundays from 4 to 5 p.m. Teacher: Doug Sturm. This class will combine simple movements with the breath, combined with the age-old tradition of Vedic chanting.

Restorative Series with Swarupa (preregistration required): Restorative yoga incorporates passively held postures (with the help of blankets and bolsters), gentle movement, visualization, and meditation. Chronically stressed muscles can effortlessly elongate and open. Allowing your mind to follow meditative guidance, settling in to the the present moment, can restore the natural balance of your mind, body and spirit. A regular practice in relaxation allows one to breathe easier, sleep better, think more clearly, and respond more rationally to the stresses of daily life. All are welcome.

Call Swarupa at 723-3283 or swarupatita@gmail.com to reserve your space. Registration is limited to 10 people.

First Friday Community Yoga Tasting (free class the first Friday of each month).

Ongoing Class Descriptions (Not all classes below are always offered. Check schedule.)

Forrest Yoga Created by Ana Forrest, the Forrest Yoga method gets you connecting to your core - getting strong and centered. We use heat, deep breathing, and vigorous sequences to move out toxins while the long holds in the pose progressions help you flush, oxygenate, and rejuvenate every cell. The classes are a series of carefully constructed asanas and vinyasa designed to build strength and endurance, strip numbness from your core, help you breathe and move in ways that release emotional shielding, and prevent and heal injury.
Kundalini Yoga Deep Personal Experience of Self: A course in basic kundalini yoga technology, with an emphasis on meditation, chanting, and breathing. Call Mukhya at 780-4051 for more information. For more information on kundalini yoga, visit www.3ho.org.
Vinyasa Vinyasa is a flowing yoga style, moving and fun, that unites breath with movement. Includes some physically challenging postures taught in stages -- modifications will be presented for newer practitioners, and more experienced yogis can explore more difficult variations.
Yoga Fundamentals This Kripalu yoga class taught by Gretchen Keiser explores and activates breathing (pranayama), body movement, and health-giving energy (prana). We gently move joints, stretch muscles, work our core, and generate heat in the basic poses (asanas) to enhance flexibility, balance, strength and concentration. The practice of drawing inward (pratyahara) generates curiosity, sensitivity, and resilience as we quiet the mind. We'll take our yoga off the mat through an exploration of the yamas and niyamas. The class is suitable if you are a beginner or an experienced yogi.
